This sequence of music, a gorgeous blend of 'natural sounds' and instruments, intertwined to make a shimmering garden with bees and strings and muted piano, or logging trucks and trumpets, or a fan and a voice, runs like three stories. Mini-plays: a voice sings a short song, like a signpost, pointing the way; the instrumental piece, the body of the story; and the percussion, as the scene change music. Vocalist Marit Brook-Kothlow brings a folk-art quality to the sound, and Erik Ian Walker creates landscapes both great and small, full of scenery, intimate and vast. Sections of this music were originally composed for Body Familiar by the Joe Goode Performance Group.
