| Customer Reviews: Average Rating: Rating : - Very good with a few flaws I received this product as a gift and have, overall, been very happy with its performance. In my opinion, the range of mixing speeds is more than adequate and it's step-less so no need to stop, change speeds, and start again. That's helpful.
I've used it for fairly heavy bread doughs without incident. It didn't walk or wobble. It also has done a fine job at higher speeds, such as whipping creme, too. At first, I thought of the timer as a gimmick, but I actually have found it to be very useful.
Now for the bad stuff. As I think another reviewer pointed out, there are a few small areas on the body that are plastic. It would make me feel better if they were metal. But, in reality, the mixer would run the same.
There is no main "on/off" switch. Meaning, the timer lights up when the mixer is plugged in so you really need to plug and unplug it with each use - a minor hassle. The buttons for setting the timer are a bit flimsy. Sometimes you press beyond the time you need. But, like the plastic areas, it's not a major problem. The one nagging design flaw I do find are the way the mixing instruments (dough hook, paddle, whisk) attach to the body. They should lock in better than they do. Staying put while rotating has never been a problem. But in mid-mix, if you raise the arm to push dough or batter off the instrument, it can be too easy to knock them out of the mixer's socket. This is a hassle.
Overall, I think Cuisinart has created a solid mixer with a few flaws that could be improved upon. + See Full Customer Review | |
